The True North Club - Off to Africa!... Again...

Wed Mar 11, 2009, 2:40 PM
Ha ha, well I'm heading off to Africa again for a few weeks. At the moment I've submitted all outstanding deviations to the club. You're all welcome to keep sending in submission notes, just please keep in mind that I will not be making any updates until I get back at the beginning of April. Hopefully, I'll have a new contest idea for you all by then too.

Well, see you all in April!

---------Mission Statement----------

Welcome to all those who share a love for the natural beauty of Canada!

This club is meant to show off the great beauty and inspirational quality of the Canadian wilderness and wildlife. All forms of artwork are welcome; photography, digital art, traditional art, writing - whatever this country has inspired you to create! Please join and share your love for the True North!

Hey everyone, I hate to do this, but I've got to remind you all that the main focus of this club is Canadian wilderness and wildlife. I know that there are a lot of great things worthy of being photographed in our country, but this club is meant to be strictly natural. Some human presence/evidence of human presence is acceptable, but please try to keep it to a minimum. I've uploaded a couple of deviations that have quite a bit of city in them recently, and they will be the last. If your deviation does not have enough natural conent, I will let you know and it will not be included in the gallery. I'm sorry to have to reject the images. Don't take it personally, I just want to make sure that this club stays centred on Canadian wildlife and wilderness.

Okay, just some clarification; Yes, you can have people and buildings in the pictures you submit, just so long as the focus of the image is natural. So, having a picture of a forest with someone walking through it is fine, just like a photo of a field with a farmer's fence is alright as well. Think of it this way, if you go out on a camping trip, there are bound to be some photos where your budies are appearing next to the landscape, or showing off a giant tree trunk, or canoeing/kayaking down a river. Those are alright, because the people are a secondary element in the picture and it's the nature around them that's important. So, always try to think of it as the nature that's important. Any people or buildings can be present, but should be a secondary element.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. And if you have any images you would like to submit, but are unsure about, send them in an I'll let you know. ^_^

Fri Oct 24, 2008, 6:49 PM
Hey everyone! The True North Club club is back up and running again! I apologize for taking so long to get things going again. My work contract during the summer got extended and it's taken me a while to get settled back in at home.

Well, I've added all the new members and I'll begin posting submissions right away.

The True North Club - SUMMER BREAK

Thu Jun 19, 2008, 11:16 PM
Well everyone, it's that time again. Time for me to head up to Killarney to tame bears and rescue lost hikers! So, this means that the club will be going on its annual summer break. The club will reopen when I return in September.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to mail out the contest prizes until the end of July. So, I'd just like to give the winners a heads up that it may be a while before their prizes arrive.

See you all again in a few months, and keep captureing the wilderness and wildlife of our country! I want to see some fantastic work when I get back!
